Recent Pew Research Center polling shows a divided American public on who should address widening economic inequality. While 48% say corporations should lead reform, 42% point to government action, and only 15% believe individuals can make a difference. Respondents also differ on root causes: 55% blame corporate greed, 43% cite systemic racism, and 31% attribute it to global trade shifts.
The data reveals a growing mistrust of both private and public institutions, with 62% of respondents expressing skepticism about the fairness of the current system. The survey also highlights a generational gap: younger voters are more likely to hold corporations accountable, whereas older voters favor policy solutions.
These findings underscore the urgent need for transparent dialogue and accountable policy that addresses the structural drivers of inequality, rather than placing the burden solely on individuals or a single sector.
