Human Rights Watch has released a damning report on the U.S. Army’s Fort Bliss detention center, alleging systemic abuse, forced confinement, and denial of basic medical care for migrants. The investigation documents physical and psychological mistreatment, including beatings, solitary confinement and extended detention without legal review.

The report calls for immediate independent oversight, full access for international observers, and a transparent review of all detainee cases. It demands that the U.S. government uphold its obligations under the 1951 Refugee Convention and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and that accountability mechanisms be established to prevent future violations.

Fort Bliss officials have denied the accusations, citing security concerns and operational constraints. Yet, the evidence presented by Human Rights Watch underscores the urgent need for systemic reform and justice for those held in the facility.
